Green Building Expo - NINTH ANNUAL GREEN BUILDING EXPO IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ
The Green Building Expo is an opportunity to learn about protecting health and reducing environmental footprints in the way buildings are built, remodeled, and operated. The event includes 50-60 exhibits, an all-day lineup of expert speakers, workshops, demos, author book signings, delicious food, kids' activities, fuel-efficient vehicles such as the Smart Car and the Zebra, and the new Cinema Verde film festival. Cinema Verde will run short films on green building and healthy living themes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, and each film will be followed by discussion. Admission is free. At the ASU Art Museum - NEW AMERICAN CITY
Arizona State University Art Museum presents an exhibition and dialogue on contemporary art and artists and their role in the future of our city. The exhibit will be a platform for conversations about the possibilities and opportunities for the integration of art in the development of Phoenix. "Unintended Consequences," a companion exhibit, is being shown in the Gallery of Design (See Campus Map C-2) and focuses on how regulations, restrictions, laws, zoning, codes, and other enforceable mandates impact our environment, buildings, products, and behavior. The Unintended Consequences exhibition suggests creative alternatives and explore the value of design thinking across the physical, social, and cultural landscape. Admission is free. New American City: Wednesday - Saturday 10 AM- 5 PM. Nelson Fine Arts Center on the SE corner of Mill Ave. and 10th St., Tempe (Campus Map C-1). Unintended Consequences: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 5 PM. At the ASU Hershberger College of Fine Arts Main Stage - GODSPELL
The 1970s brought the Bible to musical theatre with shows like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar. One of the most popular of these shows is Godspell, a family musical based on the last seven days of Jesus' life according to the Gospel of St. Matthew. With simple, yet movingly beautiful music, this show is carried by the energy and excitement of the ensemble cast. Tempe Arts and Culture - TEMPE TARDEADA
Tardeada is a vibrant afternoon festival and dance celebrating Tempe's Hispanic culture and community history. Join the fun, color and culture of Tempe's seventh annual Tardeada which honors Hispanic Heritage Month. Admission is free. October 8, 2006. 12 - 8 PM. Community Center Complex, 3600 S. Rural Road.

At Tempe Town Lake - WAY OUT WEST OCTOBERFEST
There's fun for the whole family at Tempe's annual Way Out West Oktoberfest, including mainstream entertainment on the Main Stage plus lots of family-friendly acts on the Community Stage. Kids will love all the fun free activities in Kinderfest and getting wet in the Splash Playground water park. There are also inflatables, rock climbing wall and a carnival. Way Out West Oktoberfest is produced by Tempe Sister City volunteers to raise money for international student/teacher exchanges and international humanitarian aid projects. Admission is free. "A" Mountain
Located in the heart of Tempe, due west of Sun Devil Stadium, "A" Mountain provides magnificent views of Tempe, ASU campus, and Sky Harbor International Airport.

Mill Avenue District
The Mill Avenue District in Downtown Tempe is home to an eclectic array of more than 50 shops and 65 restaurants, taverns, and nightclubs, theaters, and an outstanding art museum, all within easy walking distance of hotels, ASU, and the outdoor recreation at Tempe Town Lake.

Tempe Town Lake
Tempe Town Lake is a 220-acre urban oasis, at the end of Mill Avenue in Downtown Tempe. The man-made lake and surrounding area is a favorite spot for boating, kayaking, fishing and rowing, hiking, and biking. Visitors can rent boats and kayaks on the shore of the lake.

Public Art at ASU
Self-guided tours of the museums, galleries, and collections at ASU highlight art ranging from depression-era murals to contemporary sculptures and can be viewed throughout the Tempe Campus. Public Art walking guides are available at the ASU Visitors Center, Memorial Union, or Student Services buildings.

ASU Arboretum
Arizona's largest public arboretum, ASU's Tempe campus arboretum has a portion of the largest public date palm collection in North America, the remainder is at ASU's East Campus Arboretum. Included are collections of palms and palm-like plants, deciduous trees, fruit-bearing trees, conifers, evergreen trees, desert trees, cacti, succulents, and desert accent plants. Walking guides are available at the ASU Visitors Center, Memorial Union, or Student Services buildings. The Arboretum is free to the public, open seven days a week 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM

The Center for Meteorite Studies
See meteorites from one of the world's largest and best collections. Home to specimens from over 1500 separate meteorite falls, the Center's collection is actively used for geological and space-oriented research by scientists at ASU and throughout the world. Located at Palm Walk and University Drive in the Bateman Physical Sciences Center, C Wing, Room 139. Open Monday through Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Life Sciences Living Collection
See a variety of reptile displays, including the only complete living collection of all eighteen sub-species of Arizona native rattlesnakes. Located at Tyler Mall and Palm Walk in the Life Sciences Center A wing. Self-guided tours are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Tres Rios Wetlands
These constructed wetlands show the incredible beauty that water can create in the desert, as well as serving as a test ground for determining the optimum design configuration for water quality improvement and increased habitat value. Native species thrive here where the Salt, Gila, and Agua Fria Rivers meet. The wetlands are open Monday through Friday 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
